Espresso Pot with Garlic

This is a still life I did back about a month ago. I picked up this antique espresso pot and really enjoyed painting all the variations of color and value in it.

Dan

This portrait sketch of a pastel artist I know, is one I did recently for a portrait demo at a co-op gallery where I have my work. It was a three hour portrait demo and was a lot of fun to do. I hope to do more of them!

Red and Green

I set these apples up in my studio late one evening. I enjoyed working with the complementary colors of the apples against the red background.

Still Life with White Pitcher

I did this recent still life in a painting class I take weekly. I especially enjoyed painting the pink bottle.

Silver Pitcher

This is a 12x12 inch painting I did recently. I don't do a lot of square format paintings, but I like to experiment with them every now and then. I also experimented with cropping the small silver bowl in the lower right corner. I'm not sure if I like the effect or not, but I think I will try cropping elements more often.

Yellow Apple with Silver Plate

This is a recent small still life I set up in my studio. Sometimes simple arrangements can be a lot of fun to do.

Plein Air!

I've been doing quite a bit of plein air this summer and enjoying every minute of it. I've decided that the heat, humidity, bugs, and countless people asking me to paint them into my picture, are no longer deterrents to me getting out and doing what I love best.

Beckham

This dog portrait of Beckham, is a recent pet portrait that I did for my husband's niece, so it is not a part of my 30 Paintings in 30 Days. I just felt like posting it.

Cloudscape

A small oil that I painted from a photo I took in Duluth, Minnesota, while visiting my folks. I would love to have painted up there, but wasn't able to bring my paints...and so, had to settle for some reference shots instead.

Hazy Day

Another small plein air piece I got the chance to do last Friday. I was going to paint a rather large boat that I saw docked near the edge of the Ohio River, but with no one around, and it being Friday the 13th, I wasn't taking any chances with that. It all seemed a little too creepy for me. So, I settled on this field over at Lunken Airport.

Flower Urn

This painting is a recent plein air that I did in a local park. I painted this late in the day when there was some very nice light outside.

Pastel Plein Air

Most of the time I paint in oils, but I also like to do pastels from time to time. This is a recent pastel plein air piece I did back in March.

Tomato On A Ledge

This is a recent still life painting that I very much enjoyed doing. It's very simple, but I had a lot of fun with this one! It will publish tomorrow on Daily Paintworks 'What's New' page.

Small study from Air Force Museum

This small study is of some WWI or WWII (not sure which) airplanes from the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. The painting generated a lukewarm response from my husband.
Enough said.

This is another one of my 5x5 inch paintings that I did for a show back in late November/early December 2011. Hope you like it.

Latest commission

This is a recent portrait commission of a young boy. Smiling portraits can be difficult, but I felt this pose captured him best.

5" Squared Landscape

Now that I no longer have my website up, I've made it a new goal to be more active with my blog. This is a recent painting from the fall, a plein air I did back in late September. It is 5"x5" and I recently had it in a small works holiday show at a nearby coffee shop/art gallery. Unfortunately, it did not sell, but I am happy to hang it here at home and remember my experience painting it on location.
